Thank you for choosing the YoniFlex Trainer to strengthen your pelvic floor. To give you the best chance of success, I have compiled this essential guide to owning and operating the YoniFlex. I have received many questions from first time clients, and I hope that sharing these answers with you will help you make the most of your YoniFlex pelvic floor trainer.
Please take the time to review this guide thoroughly, as I answer many questions that you may find yourself asking. If you have any questions not addressed within this guide, please feel free to reach out to me directly at Tricia@YoniFlex.com.
Before jumping right in, I want to thank you! With your purchase you have supported a non profit organization called Days for Girls. Before I started YoniFlex, I wanted to make sure I was giving back to women who need support. For some women, just having access to menstrual products is a challenge. Days for girls has been working to end ‘period poverty’ - a too common issue where women do not have access to necessary products to support menstruation. As a result, they often miss school, work, and many can experience negative health issues due to unavailable hygiene practices, or inability to handle their periods by sanitary methods.
Thanks to you, in 2020 I was able to donate over 250 Days for girls kits! This translates to support for 250 women around the world, providing them with access to the menstrual care products they need. In addition, my customers independently donated $166.22 to support Days for girls. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
If you have a passion for supporting women, I would urge you to consider looking at Days for Girls, which has supported over 1.7 million women in over 125 countries since 2008, and has a lofty goal of ending the menstrual limitations of women around the world once and for all.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support!

EMS therapy has been used in medical practices since 500 BC, when Egyptians discovered that some fish emitted electrical impulses. Medicine workers at the time used these fish to treat pain.
The very first book published on electric muscle therapy was written back in 1745. In 1831, an early method of electrical stimulation therapy was used to effectively treat motor paralysis on patients.
Between the 1920's and 1960's, the use of Electrical muscle stimulation grew in popularity to treat chronic illnesses, but the process was difficult and the machines were bulky and expensive to manufacture.
The 1970's brought significant movements forward, when soviet scientists recommended using EMS in sports to enhance the fitness of USSR Olympic athletes during the games.
During the 21st century, technology advanced, allowing EMS machines to be created that are much smaller and more powerful. The new designs allow for the customization of programs within the machines, enabling them to target specific muscle groups and muscle issues within the body.
The YoniFlex trainer is the result of hundreds of years of scientific exploration, research, and ingenuity
The use of EMS therapy should not cause any negative side effects or issues.
The experience can create a buzzing or tingling sensation that some people may find unconfirmable. However, this typically goes away with regular use as you become accustomed to the experience. Alternatively, many people find the experience positive and enjoyable.
Like any muscle group, after exercise you may experience tenderness and achy sensations. This is normal, and is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) This will be similar to typical post workout experiences, and will usually go away within a few weeks of starting your YoniFlex program.
A very small percentage of people could have a reaction to the vaginal or rectal probes. All of our probes are made from ABS plastic and stainless steel, which reduces the chance of any allergic reaction. If you have extremely sensitive skin, or a current sensitivity to stainless steel you could experience mild skin redness and irritation.
There are a few individuals who should not use the YoniFlex Trainer:
Do not use the YoniFlex...
• If you are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant
• Within the first 6 weeks post partum
• If you have epilepsy
• If you have a pacemaker or another type of electrical or metal implant.
• If you have a heart problem
In some cases, there are exceptions to these rules It is important to discuss all exercise regiments with your doctor
QUESTIONS AFTER RECEIVING YOUR ORDER:
To start out, I recommend using the YoniFlex once per day, and taking one day off each week. You can use the YoniFlex up to twice per day - but it is highly recommended to space out the exercise as much as possible. If you want to use the YoniFlex twice per day, try first thing in the morning, and then again in the evening. Generally, 12 hours minimum is recommended between exercise.
It is normal for your muscles to be a bit sore and achy after exercising with the YoniFlex. Just like after going to the gym, your pelvic floor muscles will be getting a workout! Listen to your body, and don't overdo it!
NOTE: Using the YoniFlex too often can actually cause muscle fatigue, which will temporarily make your pelvic floor weaker, and can increase pelvic floor issues like incontinence. It is important to listen to your body. If your pelvic floor muscles are sore, give them a day to rest..
The YoniFlex range of strength is between 0-100. The level you choose will vary person to person. Most women find success between is 25-60. It depends on how weak your pelvic floor muscles currently are, and the extent of nerve damaged. Age, weight, and muscle strength are all factors in choosing the strength of your YoniFlex.
Continue to turn the YoniFlex higher until you can feel your pelvic floor muscles contracting, but not so high that it cases any discomfort or pain. There should be no pain when using the YoniFlex
The vast majority of women can sense when their pelvic floor is engaged. As long as you are sensing a tightening sensation, you can trust that the YoniFlex is doing its job.
If you are using the Ada probe (this is the oval shaped probe that comes standard with the YoniFlex trainer) it includes an indicator wand. Attach the two 'sticks' together, and then attach the indicator wand to the end of the YoniFlex. Insert the Ada probe so that the indicator wand is facing up. When your pelvic floor muscles contract, the indicator wand should move slightly forward and backward, as the pelvic floor muscles engage and relax
Please refer to the back of the Quick start guide to choose your starting program. You can also visit our Program Treatments Page to review your symptoms and choose the right program for you.
There is no absolute answer for this question. It really depends on the current muscle strength, your age, weight, and several other factors.
Some women experience improvements in as little as two weeks with daily use of the YoniFlex. For more significant pelvic floor issues, such as level 3 and 4 prolapse, seeing any improvement could take as long as two months of daily use. Have patience and don't expect immediate results. It took years for your pelvic floor muscles to weaken, so patience is necessary when strengthening them. This is why the full program for the YoniFlex trainer is 12 weeks.
Here is an estimate based on feedback from clients:

QUESTIONS AFTER USING YOUR YONIFLEX FO A FEW WEEKS:
This is a marathon, not a sprint. Do not give up hope!
Your pelvic floor muscles are just like any other muscle group in your body. Professional trainers suggest it can take about 8 weeks of weight training to really feel an improvement in your strength (being able to lift heavier weights, for example) - "Most beginners can expect to see noticeable muscle growth within eight weeks of starting a new strength training routine" - Quote from the book: Essentials of strength training and conditioning. This same time-frame can be applied to your pelvic floor muscles.
This is why I recommend completing a 12 week program before making any judgements.
Every person, and every pelvic floor is different. The severity of your issue(s) will also effect your recovery time. The more significant your issue(s), the longer it can take for your body to strengthen and recover. Stay committed, and not lose hope, as with all strength training, commitment and perseverance is key.
It does happen that the YoniFlex can stimulate sensual areas and cause very intimate sensations. Do not worry, this is completely OK, and a potential (awesome) side effect of using the YoniFlex.
You are likely over-exercising your pelvic floor muscles. If you find your symptoms getting worse, give yourself a few days of rest, and slow down your exercise. Remember this is a marathon and not a sprint, so have patience and take it slow. Try taking a week or two and using the YoniFlex every other day, and slowly build up your strength.
You do not have to use only YoniFlex lubricant. You can use any water based, non-scented, non-flavoured, non-staining personal lubricant
There is no absolute answer for this question. It really depends on the current muscle strength, your age, weight, and several other factors.

COMMON TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUES:
This is actually a safety feature built into the YoniFlex. In order for the YoniFlex trainer to go above 10 strength, you have to have a probe attached, and the probe electrodes must be in good contact with your vaginal or anal walls.
This is most likely due to nerve damage. Unfortunately many women have pelvic floor nerve damage, which results in reduced sensation. The good news is that by using the YoniFlex trainer you will increase blood flow to your pelvic floor, and your body can repair your nerve damage.
To test the YoniFlex, if you are using an Ada probe, you can turn the probe 180 degrees and see if the same side is less sensitive. This will let you verify that it is nerve damage and not the probe itself. If, when you turn the probe, you notice the opposite side with less sensation, you can check a few things:
1. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the two lead wires between your probe and the YoniFlex.
2. Try using the YoniFlex with the second lead wire included in your kit.
3. Try using the opposite port of your YoniFlex.
If these troubleshooting tips don't show results, please reach out to me.
Please check your battery. Ensure that your battery is not dead, and that the + and the - line up with the + and - on the YoniFlex. You can try swapping out your battery with a new one. It is not recommended to use a rechargeable battery with the YoniFlex.

OTHER PELVIC FLOOR SUPPORT:
There are other ways to support your pelvic floor in addition to strengthening your pelvic floor muscles. Combining any or all of these support tips will kick start your pelvic floor to reducing many of your pelvic floor issues.
Reducing Body Weight:
Excess body weight - especially belly weight - can put additional stress and strain on your pelvic floor muscles. This extra weight can add stress and pressure to your organs, especially your bladder and uterus. This can increase the risk of prolapse and incontinence issues.
My recommendations for body weight reduction are:
Intermittent Fasting: This is a fantastic and scientifically proven method to reduce weight. You do not need to change what you are eating, only when you are eating. By setting a goal of having all of your food for the day within an 8 hour window, this gives your body 16 hours each day to digest and enter a 'fat burning state' every day. I prefer the eating window of 10am -6pm each day. Please watch this excellent video by Autumn. Check out Autumn Bate's Youtube Channel Here.
Reduce Carbs & Sugars: - Losing weight and maintaining your lower weight is very much tied to your blood sugar levels. It's important to avoid foods and drinks that are high in sugars. Many high starch and high carb foods (think white bread/buns and pasta), have been shown to have similar effects on your body as sugary drinks. If you replace your sugary drinks with water, and replace your high carb food choices with proteins and fats, you can still eat just as much and lose weight.
Here is a great video describing the science behind high protein and high fat diets: The Youtube channel that provided this video is YouGotThis!
Quit Smoking:
Smoking causes chronic coughing, which adds stress to your bladder and pelvic floor. Smoking can also increase the risk of both stress incontinence and urinary incontinence, as well as increase the risk of bladder cancer. Quitting smoking can reduce your pelvic floor symptoms.
Vaping has been shown to be up to 95% safer on your body than smoking cigarettes. Unlike traditional cigarettes, vaping does not combust paper and tobacco, which releases over 2000 nasty chemicals. A vape has typically just 3-4 ingredients. You can use them as a transition towards becoming a non smoker, as many companies such as Canada Vapes offer lowering nicotine levels.
Avoid Spicy and Citrus Foods:
Certain foods have shown to irritate bladder linings, causing increased incontinence. Reduce the consumption of spicy foods and strong citrus foods.
Try to Reduce Stress:
I know, I know - easier said than done. My personal advice is... routine. Start setting daily routines, small and easy to achieve routines. Then, turn these routines into habits.
Here are 3 recommended, super easy-to-follow routines that will contribute to reducing your stress. You can even combine exercise with your YoniFlex with the first suggestion.
ROUTINE 1: Meditate - Meditation has been shown in countless studies to reduce stress. You don't need to be a monk, religious, or to have any special skills to meditate. There is no wrong way to meditate. Set a time and a place for your meditation, and make it mandatory. No ifs and/or buts, you are going to meditate. Why not combine meditation with YoniFlexing - you can take the 20 minutes for your YoniFlex and find your inner calm.
ROUTINE 2: Super quick and easy stretching - I'm not talking 90 minute hot yoga here - just a few minutes every morning when you get out of bed before you do anything else.
ROUTINE 3: No electronics in the bed. - This one is super easy. Just stop plugging in your phone beside your bed. Stop reaching for it when you wake up and surfing through it. Stop using it if you wake up in the middle of the night. Simply charge it in a room that isn't your bedroom.
